EPIC! SCHOOLS

What having The Prevention Team in your school looks like:

“With the right programs and services in place, schools have the unique ability to help our youth flourish.”

“Young people are experiencing a level of distress that calls on us to act with urgency and compassion,”

-CDC Division of Adolescent and School Health Director Kathleen Ethier

Our approach to addiction prevention and substance misuse is pro-active and data driven.

Our Prevention Educators and Resiliency Coaches use culturally humble evidence-based programs to reduce/prevent problem behaviors/toxic stress (ex. problem gambling, alcohol/substance misuse, violence, depression). We also offer curriculum on safe dating, goal setting skills, increases optimism, gratitude and self control, and reducing anxiety.

Our passion is helping the students thrive into the future.

Prevention and Intervention Services

  • The Prevention Team shares it’s practice of open innovation with Prevention Science principles related to current trends around the “why” of substance misuse, habits and addictions, including trauma/risk factors research. We believe together with you and other systems of care, we can pioneer resiliency focused action steps to address today’s complex student needs, family life and play a role healing communities. We are in the business of sparking innovation where adverse child experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress continue to present as an urgent public health crisis and wish to be that wide-reaching impact on local ecosystems with SDOH + educational health. We hope to come together with you to learn, grow, and strengthen each other and our communities to address the social challenges of our time: poverty, suicide, incarcerations, violence & exploitations, bullying, chronic disease, substance & alcohol misuse, low commitment to school/dropouts, trauma & grief, teen pregnancy, maternal addiction, accidental overdoses, alcohol related vehicle accidents & problem gam(bl)ing. The Prevention Team does many things that may seem unrelated to our work at first glance, but the cultural humility, understanding and empowerment tools we use provide a special human connectedness, nourishment and sustain people with a sense of belonging that allows for a greater impact in the world we live in.

  • (Student Support Coaches)

Our Resiliency Coaches engage youth from grade 1-12 offering resiliency building activities and wheel to empower and develop healthy strategies to tackle every day stressors that interfere with academic successes. Youth can engage in small group discussions which include evidence-based programs that can reduce or prevent problem behaviors (i.e. improve social and goal setting skills, increase optimism and self control, reduce anxiety, and improve classroom behavior. Resiliency Coaches are natural motivators who view students’ challenges as opportunities and have the special ability to inspire greatness and resiliency in students.

  • Youth Summit

Teen Intervene

Free for your district.

How it works:

A parent, faculty, or administration refers a teen to meet with our TI credentialed staff.

A screening is done is assess level of intervention required.

If they qualify 2 sessions are scheduled during free periods to meet 1:1. The third session special as it brings the parent to the table with student if the student is willing. A follow up in a few months can also be scheduled.

This will strictly address alcohol, vaping, & substance abuse. If there is an underlying mental health concern, a concurrent referral may be done.

This is an SBIRT consistent program and has been found highly successful in teens across all demographics.
